[mcclatchydc.com: Homepage] Robert Falcone, a surgeon at Ohio State University School of Medicine's Level 1 trauma center in Columbus described a similar case in which a four and a half foot rip saw at a saw mill sliced through a worker's chest and arm in an accident that is usually lethal. Falcone said the man survived because a co-worker stuck a hand in the injured man's chest and applied pressure to stop bleeding and a local emergency room doctor realized the trauma unit in Columbus was the only place to treat him.

The Fireside Post: The congressional hearings on the economy are dominating the national media.  One of the Republican members just made a cute comment.  He said, “If you like the way the federal government manages AIG you will really love national health care.”  Cute and clever commentary makes for poor decision making.  Clever is very different than being smart.  We wonder if the congressman would make the same analogy with our military?

[letters from GOD] Breaking News:From Citizens For Legitimate Government (CLG): Iraq veterans are denied help for combat trauma 03 Feb 2008 Hundreds of veterans, including many who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, are being denied vital help by the government to cope with the psychological fallout of war.

The Fireside Post: This is clearly partisanship at its worst.  Republicans stifling progress in the name of dissent.  They pretend to protect the American taxpayer - but Boehner was not elected to Congress for the first time in 2008.  He has been around awhile - and he was a part of the Congressional leadership that walked hand-in-hand with President Bush - as they walked the road of economic destruction of this great country.

The Fireside Post: Our country is spending over 10 Billion dollars a month on the war in Iraq and President Bush thinks this is a good thing.

[Miami Condos Investments] Miami World Center » Miami Condos For Sale and Rentals, Miami ...: No AJ, have not tried Badruttis ( not within my tight budget:) nor do I partake in the Miami Urban Life website either although I recommended it once in a post for owners at Q or 1800 who were trying to form some kind of association. Frankly I’m pretty worn out by the ups and downs of the last week, what we are living through now with our economic situation is on a scale that is unprecedented and like the insults vollied around on this blog, I have no stomach for it.

The Fireside Post: Wars are inherently a drain on our economy.  Investing in a new washer and dryer reaps greater dividends than spending to build a missile.  Both create jobs in manufacturing - but we blow up the missile whereas the washer and dryer improve our lives for several years.   It is reasonable to view the military much like we view the police or fire departments.  They don’t build anything, they are merely cost centers - but we accept the cost as a means of protecting our assets.
