[Politico.com: Congress] Ben Smith's Blog: McCain pollster: Wright wouldn't have worked ...: McCain & McInturff were the media candidates chosen by libtards for all practical purposes to lose gracefully or in whatever fashion. The only positive thing McCain did during the whole campaign was introduce Sarah Palin to an electorate starved for real honest people rather than tired old hacks like John-boy and the host of libtards on the Dumocrat side of the aisle.
[Salon: War Room] The Jeremiah Wright ad McCain didn't want you to see - War Room ...: Comparing McCain and Obama, the ad's narrator says, "One chose to honor his fellow soldiers by refusing to walk out of a prisoner of war camp. The other chose not to even walk out of a church where a pastor was spewing hatred."
[FiveThirtyEight.com: Politics Done Right] FiveThirtyEight.com: Politics Done Right: The Wrong Ads and the ...: Nate, I think I basically agree with your points, though I'd probably put it a little differently -- something like, McCain started out (in the primaries) as a moderate who worked with the other party, believed in good government, and was willing to support policies that helped the "little guy" -- very different from Bush -- this is why he won the nomination. But once he became the nominee, he allowed himself and his campaign to be taken over by the Republican machine, abdicated all the positions that made him different from Bush, showed partisanship and poor judgement in his choice of Palin, which alienated moderates, and basically turned into a generic Republican, which is not who he is (or at least was).
[Blogrunner > Politics] The Card McCain Didn't Play - Blogrunner: It's a bit of a snoozer, and outside groups created numerous Wright ads that had absolutely ZERO effect, but let Republicans keep telling themselves that McCain lost because he wouldn't play tough and run this.
[Portfolio.com: All Articles Feed] David Plouffe Interview - Executives Column - Lloyd Grove - World ...: The juggernaut Plouffe led, which grew to a payroll of 5,000 before Election Day, raised record amounts of cash from millions of small donors, defeated the once-invincible Hillary Clinton machine, and crushed the flailing Republican nominee, John McCain. Obama's success was so overwhelming that it's hard to remember those early days when the freshman senator from Illinois was the longest of long-shots and the darkest of dark horses in a country still troubled by issues of race.
[THE Right Side of Wisconsin] Steele Picks Priebus to Co-Chair His Campaign for RNC Chairman ...: Priebus said Steeles approach will represent a strong and welcomed contrast to Democrat policies and will help Republicans rally around an agenda that keeps the American dream alive in difficult financial times. Priebus noted that Steele was the choice of state Republican Party activists who participated in an online poll.
[Hot Air » Top Picks] Hot Air » Blog Archive » Video: The forbidden Wright attack ad: McCain lost because of his inability to articulate a vision for America that a majority of voters agreed with. Had McCain been a real conservative and able to explain to voters that the giant expansion of government Obama promised would mean a lesser, not better, quality of life, and fewer, not more, rights for them, then McCain might have made a better showing.
[Political Animal] Wright redux?: "Look, John McCain has told us a long time ago before this campaign ever got started, back in May, I think, that from his perspective, he was not going to have his campaign actively involved in using Jeremiah Wright as a wedge in this campaign," he said late last week. "Now since then, I must say, when Congressman Lewis calls John McCain and Sarah Palin and his entire group of supporters, 50 million people strong around this country, that we're all racists and we should be compared to George Wallace and the kind of horrible segregation and evil and horrible politics that was played at that time, you know, that you've got to rethink all these things.
[Ben_Domenech's blog] Ben_Domenechs blog » Nielsen: Palin Rocked ::: Even though it’s not a huge number, the fact is that Barack Obama had a ton of built in advantages for his speech - whereas the only one for Sarah Palin is that the media had placed expectations in such a negative way that everyone wanted to tune in (perhaps in hopes of a trainwreck?). And an excellent sign for the level of interest in Palin, and the number of people outside of the Twin Cities who viewed the speech as a defining event for this election.
