[Features] Next week, T Linden will blog on our Q1 results -- full of facts and figures, including figures for Land. Do know you will see a decline in the Land mass of Second Life because of the conversion from OpenSpaces to Homesteads and because we have taken back some parcels from Landowners who were delinquent for some time and from others who are adjusting their holdings. No, we are not seeing a mass exodus from Second Life or a property crisis like we are seeing in the real world. We are seeing a lot of activity, though, as people respond to the price/product changes and economic pressures in the real world. We are also seeing new buyers enter the market.

[Buffalo Rising] Urban Farm vs Housing | City | Buffalo Rising: So while I strongly believe urban farming makes sense and will increasingly be a factor in our cities, I think in this particular location the ongoing consolidation of these parcels for housing makes the most sense. To avoid lining themselves up for a public relations black eye, it seems like the City is doing the right thing by offering the land for interim use -- and they should also work proactively and soon to identify long-term alternative sites, as it's hard to imagine that other situations like this won't arise.
[Machetera] CANF to the back of the class! « Machetera: The Bush Administration explained their rationale for the policy stating that the purpose in limiting “such parcels decrease the burden on the Cuban regime to provide for the basic needs of its people.” [19] This statement not only incorrectly assumes the Cuban government is concerned about providing basic needs for its people but worse yet, instead of urging and assisting Cubans in becoming independent of the State, it has the reverse effect of having Cubans turn back to the State as their sole provider and source for basic goods and necessities.

[Second Thoughts] Second Thoughts: SL Economy Takes a Lickin' and Keeps on Tickin': I know I dropped out of this bracked and flowed backwards, for example because I abandoned an openspace island, didn't take rent on it therefore, abandoned some island parcels, so I wouldn't have to pay tier next month that would be higher in Ansheland, and then also bought some mainland on a sim where it became available -- and spent some developing the land preserve because I had the time off to do it. So like others running a small business constantly needing to be developed and adjusted under these conditions, I drop down for a month, but then fortified, I go back to flowing positively again, as I have other years.

[Kit's Blog] Rick Warrens Connections to Joels Army « Kits Blog: One name that Warren has also been repeatedly mentioned in association with is John Wimber, founder of the Vineyard denomination (and this is using the term loosely; both it and its “parent”, Calvary Chapel, tend to promote themselves as “church organisations”, do denominational membership via signing of statement of faith and payment of a yearly membership fee, and in general straddle the line between a denomination proper and a parachurch).
