[mydd] CNN: Obama Up 7 Is Great For McCain!: It is true that McCain polls better than Obama on issues such as Afghanistan (+10%), terrorism (+15%), the Middle East (+7%) and Iran (+7%) but considering CNN's June poll found that the economy topped voters' concerns with 42% whereas Iraq and terrorism were far back at 24% and 11% respectively, perhaps this isn't as big a concern for Barack as CNN is making it out to be. In fact, perhaps McCain's the one who should be worried, since in July Obama polls better on jobs (+ 19%), economy (+11%), gas prices (+11%) and even taxes (+6%.) Really, which guy would you rather be in this scenario.

[Democratic Strategist] Give 'Em Enough Rope: Part of the problem with the McCain rise in the polls is the rank cowardice displayed by Congressional and Senate leadership on a number of issues and the ability of the GOP to slap them around in legislative battles. It may not do the GOP brand much good, but it makes the Democrats look weak, and contributes the the myth that they are too weak to be trusted with national security.

The Kyoto protocol, ratified by over 166 countries, but not by the Bush Administration, entered into force in February 2005 and is due to end in 2012, and the US, mayor developing countries and big polluters like Brazil, China and India become fully engaged in signing up to a post-2012 agreement, centred on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change/UNFCCC, which is scheduled to finish in late 2009, having G8 leaders agreed to consider and adopt the goal of achieving at least 50% reduction of global emission by 2050, but not yet assuming any short term commitments. [Gyude's 'New' Weblog] Election ”08: A Referendum on America not Obama: No president with a military strained to breaking point, soldiers performing up to four tours, a sinking economy and a burgeoning threat of a resurgent Al Qaeda and Taliban in Afghanistan should agree to an open-ended committment to a country that is at best, peripheral to the country’s most pressing national security threat - global terrorism.
