[The Plum Line] After you, and others, noted that Obama’s [almost] sorrow at how little of an assist the media wants to give him when he seeks to approach complicated topics like health care and Afghanistan (or “public option” and “troop levels”

[MoJo Blog Posts: kevin drum] Fixing the Economy | Mother Jones: I seem to remember a post of McArdle's from a few weeks after the election, where she was bemoaning the fact that so many of Obama's supporters and especially the public at large expected the economy to improve as soon as he was elected. She said she was amazed at this and couldn't remember a time when something like this was associated with another incoming president.
[Megan McArdle] Dollar Worries: Hypocrisy or Crankery? - Megan McArdle: But there's an added wrinkle: The man who has donated huge sums of money to Obama and has bragged about owning the Democratic Party, George Soros, is making a lot of money betting against the dollar. At minimum, this has the appearance of conflict, even without knowing what exactly Soros has been getting for the millions he's been pouring into the ruling party's coffers.
[The Plum Line] Will Senate Bill Be Public Option's “Waterloo”? | The Plum Line: GOP aides are increasingly confident that the Senate bill will represent the public option’s “Waterloo,” as one aide puts it, chiefly because it’s questionable whether pressure from liberals in the House will do much to prevent what emerges from the Senate from getting into the final bill largely intact.

[The Baseline Scenario] Measuring The Fiscal Costs Of Not Fixing The Financial System ...: All we ever hear from any of Obama, Geithner, Bernanke, Frank, Dodd, and other blatherers is obfuscation, lies, red herrings, and endless platitudes regarding finding real solutions. The bottom line is that ONLY BY REFORMATION OF CAMPAIGN LAWS REGARDING POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS CAN THE SYSTEM BE REPAIRED AND THE GOVERNMENT BE RETURNED TO THE TAX PAYING CITIZENRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[NO QUARTER] Barack Obama, Economic Moron : NO QUARTER: That’s how Axe and Rhambo bred him, that’s how they’re currently advising him, and that’s what he is going to be. Until, that is, the day that he is not re-elected and he, Axe and Rhambo are on that midnight plane to Chicago wondering “What Happened?”
[Politics Daily] Reid on Health Care Package: 'We're Not There Yet' -- Politics Daily: Okay Charlie, first you have to read the damn bill before you repeat what others say.You won't be so quick to repeat others words then. The statement "If you are happy with your coverage you will be allowed to keep it" is soully for congress and the president.Because the rhetoric and changes that follow will not affect them then.Employer coverage doesn't affect them. But it affects you.Congress seems to think that by not mandating that employers have to cover you in this bill, that it will only be reacted on by new smaller employers. That is why they want the public option.Think about this.An employer pays on the average from 12-15 thousand per employee, per year.Congress doesn't think that employers will drop their insurance for you and just pay the 750 dollars per employee, per year fine.Anyone want to bet on those odds? You put that public option out there and allow employers to legally drop your insurance and just pay that fine and watch what happens.Employers will save 14,250 dollars per employee, per year in a heartbeat. And everyone will be on the government public option then. Now where will all that money come from then.Another thing. If you make minimum wage or 9-10 bucks an hour, full or parttime.

[CNN Political Ticker] CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive ...: "Our economy's growing again, for the first time in more than a year, and we know that economic growth is a prerequisite for job growth," Obama said. "But having said that, what I emphasize today is we cannot sit back and be satisfied, given the extraordinarily high unemployment levels that we've seen."
[The Volokh Conspiracy] The Volokh Conspiracy » Blog Archive » Here Come the Greenhouse Regs: The Obama EPA was not required to decide that “in the judgment of the EPA Administrator, the emission of greenhouse gases cause, or contribute to, air pollution which may reasonably be anticipated to endanger public health or welfare.” .
[CNN Political Ticker] CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive ...: Government has no business providing any services to the American people who contribute the money to run the government, and therefore, the government has no business rectifying the disaster that private insurance companies have created in the American health care system, and goodness knows the government should not be in any involved in encouraging business to invest in something other than lining corporate owners' pockets. This is the Republican mantra of no government oversight, which is wrong, wrong, wrong.
