[The Agonist - thoughtful, global, timely] New McCain Ad Slams Obama on Ayers, Economy: He even kept after Pat Buchanan, author of the Southern Strategy way back when Buchanan worked for Nixon, and he got Buchanan to admit publicly that the McCain campaign's goal is to show that Obama is "not like us." It was fascinating to hear Buchanan openly defend the tactics, including the Willie Horton ad and several other infamously racist appeals, as perfectly normal in politics. I've long since wondered why people like Buchanan are still given enormous airtime, but I suppose this one interview last night was so revealing that I'm glad he was on the airwaves for all to see.
