[Motor Trend Blog] The performance has always been there and if GM really wants to do a RWD sedan (and I really would love that) then I think they need to do it the right way. I think this would mean designing the Caprice from the ground up with the US market in mind, giving it bad-ass styling like the Camaro, but also figuring out how to make it perform and give some decent fuel economy (plus a nice interior).

[Motor Trend Blog] GM Engineering Chief Reuss Hopes for RWD Chevys, Buicks | Car News ...: Going into GM's bankruptcy last July, rear-wheel-drive seemed all but dead, relegated to Cadillac (and not the whole lineup), body-on-frame trucks and the Corvette here in anticipation of new Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards. GM's ability to quickly add a Holden sedan with a Chevy nose and cop car tires, brakes and lights to the Camaro's Oshawa, Ontario assembly plant bodes well for a civilian Chevy Caprice and Buick Park Avenue there in the future.

[Car News Articles] GM's Reuss Chats Up RWD, Fuel Economy » Car News Articles: Mark Reuss, in his first full week as General Motors’ president for North American operations, took this question in a webchat Friday afternoon: “Considering your love for performance vehicles and the public’s desire for a rear-wheel-drive Chevy sedan, might you reconsider the Caprice program for retail sales?”

[Motor Trend Blog] Buick GMC's Richards Learns Meaning of 'Not Long :-)' | Car News ...: GM's announcement that day naming Richards the new Buick-GMC chief says he was appointed by Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, who three days later lost his marketing and public relations duties and was given "advisory" duties. Lutz is, at least in title, the car guy right-hand-man to non-car guy Chairman Whitacre.

[The Truth About Cars] November Sales Snapshot: Full Size Sedans | The Truth About Cars: Mikey, Yeah…there is something strangely appealing to me about the Impala…especially in LTZ or SS trim.  Rented one for a week about a year ago (LTZ…floor-mounted shift, leather, remote start)…for the miles of interstate driving I did, I was really impressed.  It’s on a (rather long, I admit) list of potential considerations for a “new” car for me next summer.  By new, I mean used…but I run two households and am required to do some serious driving if I want to see my family (I live in Huntsville, Alabama…wife and family in Charleston, SC), and something like the Impala would make a nice long-distance cruiser.  Hope you continue to enjoy yours.

[Autoblog] REPORT: Lutz says next Chevy Impala to stay front-drive, gain ...: I've driven many RWD cars that had numb steering and wallowy handling, but the performance potential of a RWD car is far higher than that of a front-driver. And typically the more horsepower you give a FWD, the worse the steering gets, to the point that high-performance variants of FWD cars are often AWD to minimize torque steer.

[egmCarTech] Question of the day: What advice would you give GM's new CEO ...: The union doesn't give a damn about the company's survival or American jobs and the sooner GM management realizes this the better. Anyway, I doubt it will happen but doing this would go a long way towards future profitibility, expanded R&D budget, and product lines.

[Wheels.ca News and Features.] Ford has plans for new police car | Wheels.ca: Ford said its new police interceptor will offer "better fuel economy, quality and durability" than the Crown Victoria it will replace when it goes out of production in 2011. Unlike the Crown Vic, the Taurus can't offer .

[mkjerseys1178] Hummer Sold to Chinese Company by General Motors : mkjerseys1178: In regards to sales numbers, only 8,193 Hummers were sold in the United States during the first nine months of 2009, so maybe General Motors knows exactly what they are doing in unloading this asset. The new company could create a more economic and gas friendly version of the Hummer if they work hard at it, and it's possible that we could soon see a re-birth of the Hummer vehicle much sooner than anticipated.

[Kia-World blog :: Kia Owners Forums] Stylish Kia Cadenza sedan makes its official domestic market ...: As part of Kia’s drive to increase sales in the large sedan segment, the new Cadenza will be manufactured with a total of three gasoline engines - with different engines being available around the world to best suit local legal requirements. Power outputs will range from 165 ps to 290 ps and all models will feature front-wheel drive and Kia’s all-new six-speed automatic transmission.

[Wheels] G.M. to Position New Buick Regal as Premium Sport Sedan - Wheels ...: In its Thursday news release, Buick compared the 2011 Regal with the Acura TSX and the Volvo S60. Buick also called the new Regal a premium sport sedan, which means that people will no doubt compare it with the BMW 3 series and the Infiniti G37 (both rear-wheel-drive cars).

[GM FastLane] Webchat: Ed Whitacre Answers Media Questions | GM FastLane: not a businessman and I don’t know a lot about management but it seems if there is a never-ending stream of CEOs serving only a few months each, the company will be in a constant turmoil. It may be a bad analogy but a foorball team that changes coaches several times each year just gets progressively worse.

[GM Authority] Officially Official: 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe | GM Authority: While we’ve known for some time that the stunning CTS Coupe would be coming sometime in the beginning of 2010, Cadillac has officially announced some interesting details about the vehicle. While the price is still an unknown, we now know that the 2+2 coupe will be chock-full of cutting-edge tech such as a rear-view camera, touch-pad door operation, and a performance-oriented suspension system coupled to the Sigma platform trademark rear- or all-wheel drive.
